First In and Understaffed directly addresses the minimal staffing levels we are now seeing in the modern day fire service. Departments across the nation routinely operate first due on working fires with crews of three firefighters or less.
Many of the tactics used by understaffed crews have gone without definition or training and are, in many cases, deemed taboo. That is, until now.
This course discusses and practices the tactics and strategy that accompanies an effective first in crew staffed with three firefighters or less. We bring to light what these tactics are, why they are vital, and how we can train on them.
We address things like:
-Cultural Considerations
-Two In/Two Out
-Operating Independently
-Interior Recon
-The Working Driver
-Safety and Aggression
... and much more!
If your department runs short on rigs then this class is for you.
This version is ideal for weekly training at your department. This is the original lecture that hammers on both the cultural and tactical aspects of being First In and Understaffed.
The four hour takes an in-depth look at not only the cultural and tactical dynamic of shortstaffing but also discusses management of different style occupancies, apparatus setup, and a deep discussion on training specifically for understaffed companies.
The HOT class is a full day of skills and scenarios. The first half consists of a short lecture and individual skills like Line Deployment, Forcible Entry, Split Search, etc. The back half is entirely live fire scenarios conducted with crews of two. This class is the closest you'll get to fireground realism
